Dr. Seema Gupta holds a PhD degree in Commerce and Management from Sukhadia University in 2001, M.B.A from R. A. Podar Institute of Management in 1993 and B.A. from Rajasthan University in 1991.
She has 28 years of work experience spanning academia, corporate sector and startups. She was Dean, School of Business, Galgotias University from 2023-2024 where she had transformative effect on the quality of education by setting up processes for active learning, Bloom’s taxonomy, case studies and course projects. Before that she was Director, Great Learning from 2021 - 2023, a leading higher education company where she led the Online MBA with Shiv Nadar University, Online PGDM with Great Lakes Gurgaon, MBA, BBA, MCA, BCA programmes with Jain and SRM University and MTech with PES University.
Dr Seema Gupta was a tenured faculty at IIM Bangalore from 2006-2021 where she was part of the Marketing area and taught Digital Marketing among others. She was Chairperson of M.B.A. program for working professionals and was also part of the institute branding committee. Before IIMB, she was faculty at Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad (MICA) from 2001-2006 where she designed and was the Chairperson of long duration programme in PR and Event Management. Before entering academia, Dr Gupta started her career with RPG Group in Sales and Marketing.
She is a Visiting Faculty at Egade University, Mexico and Esan University, Peru. She is the winner of the prestigious EFMD award and ISB-Ivey Best Case Study award. She is a state topper in Rajasthan Board in higher secondary and a Gold Medalist in secondary exams. She also topped her college in Under Graduate exams. She was part of Top 100 High Performing Employees Club in RPG Group. She has published a paper in Information Systems Research, a Financial Times Top 50 Journal and her three case studies are best sellers in Harvard Business School publishing with more than 1000 copies downloaded across premier Business schools in the world. Her textbook on Digital Marketing is the market leader and used across top B- schools.
She has published many papers in refereed international journals such as Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Public Relations Review, IIMB Management Review, Vikalpa among others. Dr. Gupta has presented papers in many international conferences and traveled across the globe. Dr. Gupta has done corporate training on Digital Marketing for leading companies such as 3M, John Distilleries, Ajanta Pharma, Arvind Brands, Union Bank among others. She has been the Director for many Executive General Management Programmes for companies such as Syntel, KPMG etc.
Dr. Gupta has provided consultancy for government as well as private organizations such as Karnataka State Seeds Corporation, Indcoserve, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Karnataka Milk Marketing Federation, Nilon’s, Gaursons, ABA Corp, Mapsko, Aranyani brands where she helped craft business and marketing strategy and contributed to turning around businesses. She has rich experience in startups. She founded two startups of her own in B2B and B2C E- commerce space and successfully raised seed fund. She was actively engaged with N. S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at IIM Bangalore where she mentored many startups on growth strategies using digital marketing.
Dr. Gupta has rich experience in the entire spectrum of online degree programmes - content creation, curriculum design, delivery and student career outcomes. She has exposure to state- of-the-art learning management system and leveraging digital marketing for outreach. She is a thought leader who is often quoted for her views on marketing issues in leading newspapers -Times of India, Brand Equity, Financial Express, Rajasthan Patrika, Punjab Kesari etc.
